Richard A. Beam - USS Biloxi Interview with Tommy English - 20 Sep 1945 - All Rights Reserved

On May 6, 1942 we capitulated to the Japanese forces. The Japanese came aboard the islands and we turned in all our firearms and were placed under the Japanese's command who informed us that we had surrendered unconditionally.

All the men concentrated on the northeast side of Corregidor (the 92nd garage) were ill due to the hot weather, insufficient food, and ill treatment by the Japanese. We also had cases of dysentery, skin diseases, and fevers.
